During the festival I was volunteering in Ffresh stall and providing information for visitors.

I attend to International Fiction 1 session. This was one of my favourite sessions among the festival. There were few memorable films like:

F5; two dancers hoping to escape from where they live and make the big time. It explores themes of artistic integrity the distinction of high brow, low brow art and the relationship between artists, critics and audience.

Nothing Can Touch Me, was a film set in Danish town a boy is shooting all his friends in the school because of getting bullied. This film really touched me and i related it to the similar horrible attack in America.

I managed to attend the last session of today which was Vinyl & Sara Sugarman Q&A. Unfortunately she was unable to attend due to family health issues. Although she wasn't there it was great to watch her film.

A 1980's Rock Band caused a media frenzy in 2004, when his ageing Rock group made an unknown comeback under the guise of an "up and coming young punk band" In true to form style of an image obsessed industry the youngsters were signed and entered the U.K. Charts with their first single release.Unfortunately as the media frenzy around the new group broke so did the need to explain the truth.

Also it was nice to see some of the cast in the theatre. Personally I found the film interesting as it was based on a true story. It was funny as well as interesting. I felt happy to see Rhyl as a location in the film.

Thursday 21st of February

FFresh works: Dream
Luckily I wasn't volunteering on Thursday so I tried to attend sessions as much as I can.
Ffresh works: Dream series of shorts; we watched mysterious thriller Orpheus, , Memories Vives, You got beautiful. I loved the way You got beautiful was made such as photos, animation. I thought it was good to bring issues between women and their body. No matter who we are we have always got something nice inside of us.

International Fiction 2 & Elmar Imanov Q&A

I loved watching every second of his documentarty Die Schaukel des Sargmachers (The swing of coffin makers).
The documentary was shot in Azerbaijan.  I was suprised that i was actually able to understand the language used in the film as I am Turkish and it is similiar with Azerbaijanian. This documentary left a smile on my face. Knowing the events like this happening in Turkey in little villages as the people living there have no education or no self improvement.

The Mill Masterclass

From the company The Mill we had a quest speak and visual effects artist Sid who done the latest Kia advertisement. He explained the way he worked how hard he worked and gave some tips and tricks. Also he talked about breaking in the industry, how vital the applying practical work with professionalism. He mentioned about voluntary works and work experiences as well. I really enjoyed this session and had notes taken for myself to apply in my life.

Friday 22nd of February

I was at the stall most of the day on friday as it was a busy day and getting organized for the Ffresh Awards Show in the evening.

Watching the Awards show made me ask to myself Why am i here and not getting involved in Ffresh why am i waiting for the be creative make something and enter in the Ffresh and now that what my plans for summer. Work hard, play hard.

Also recieved a nice e mail at the end of this journey :)

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to send you a brief note to say thank you for all your help with this year’s ffresh, which was massively appreciated.

Your support played an invaluable role in the success of the festival so we’re really grateful for you taking the time off to help us out.

Let us know if there’s anything we do to help you in the future (references, life advice, bail money, etc).

Thanks once again,

James
